1294 Balmoral Street Centre

1294 Balmoral, formally the Northwestern Ontario Technology Centre, was constructed with funds from FedNor and the Northern Ontario Heritage Foundation. The Centre officially opened in 1999, with a mandate to assist in the incubation of technology-based companies. In September 2007 the building was re-named to the Northwestern Ontario Innovation Centre and in 2008 the building was re-named again to the 1294 Balmoral Centre. Today the names Northwestern Ontario Innovation Centre and 1294 Balmoral are used interchangeably.
Located on the southern end of campus (view map PDF), this building houses Lakehead University's world-renowned Paleo-DNA Laboratory and the Office of Admissions and Recruitment. 1294 Balmoral is also air conditioned and offers plenty of natural lighting, an inviting atmosphere and easy access to parking.
